	Since 2021, I have been the graphic design manager, and only full-time graphic designer, at the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF). SIFF is a yearround film organization and also hosts Seattle’s annual two week film festival across the city. I have had the honor of leading multiple design projects from start to finish, including a semi-rebrand of the organization.
In 2024, with the help of freelance desiger Jess Stehlin, I worked to refresh SIFF’s brand following the acquisition of Seattle’s Cinerama (now SIFF Cinema Downtown). The goal of this project was to wed all of the cinema venues together and make them identifiable as SIFF venues, while letting each shine. We created four icons to represent the venues and assigned them brand colors that would allow for immediate associations within any other marketing materials. We also compiled SIFF’s first official brand guidelines that included logos, fonts, colors, and illustrations that could be used across the organization. As sub-brand, I created the quirky, illustrative membership characters to highlight the diversity in SIFF membership and encourage others to joint he fun.
Every year in the spring, SIFF runs the Seattle International Film Festival for two weeks, highlighting some of the best films from around the work for Seattle filmgoing audiences. I had the honor of leading the design execution while working here. Before the festival starts, we meet with the design/advertising firm WONGDOODY to conceptualize the brand for that year. I advise on the direction and we ultimately recieve a poster, a trailer, and a brand kit to work with. I then manage a team of at most two other designers to execute all other assets necessary for the film festival including digital/social graphics, printed signage, printed and digital guides, festival merch, and slights on screen to name a few. I also designed SIFF’s first “Festival Passport,” a printed booklet where festival-goers could track what they see and complete challengers to submit for a prize.
Finally, SIFF also operates as a yearround cinema organization and nonprofit. Outside of festival time, I create all internal and external materials. In 2022 and 2025, I created the materials for our annual fundraising Marquee Gala and coordinated their print production. My consistant tasks include creating and updating the weekly preshow slides, prodicing and printing the monthly film guide, creating digital and social promotions, handling stationery needs, and brainstorming novel marketing ideas with the marketing team.

	As part of my freelance practice, I expanded my work to include more film festival-related design, especially since I found my self increasingly connected in the Seattle film festival scene. I mainly focused on designing printed guides for smaller film festivals, although I did occasionally help in branding.&#38;nbsp;
My most extensive works were with Three Dollar Bill Cinema on the 2024 TRANSlations Trans Film Festival (guide) and 2024 Queer Film Festival (guide and branding). These projects were especially rewarding since they allowed me to connect more with the Seattle queer community through my design practice.

	Sea Slug Animation Festival is a new, animation-centric film festival in Seattle founded by cinema programmer Hannah Baek and me, joined by our shared love for the art of animation. Not only is this a design and branding project for me, but it is also one in which I learned the ropes of cinema program and honed my eye for animated film and curation.&#38;nbsp;
This is an ongoing project with the goal of fostering the animation community in Seattle. We strive to bring together audiences, animators, and everyone in between to uplift the art form and give it center stage. We are also trying to distinguish ourselves among other film festivals by awarding every exhibited filmmaker an exhibition fee and not charging submission fees to help foster the art as tangibly as possible.
In terms of design, I create nearly all the assets for the festival, from logos and illustrations to the program and merch. But there are a handful of centerpieces that I don’t create, but manage. Currently, the posters for the festival are designed and printed by the RISO studio ZineHug, who also animate the poster. The trailers are animated by a handful of local animators who each do a a few sections to highlight their own animation style. For the trailers, I do get to practice my own animation skills by animating the logo and end credits.
I designed the brand with the idea that it is going to shift and change over every festival. Sea slugs are invertebrate and famously colorful, providing us with a local symbol for the creative and ephemeral nature of animation. The brand in general is loose but with distinct guiderails to allow any artist to put their spin on it while still remaining the same brand. The logomark is distinct and can stand out in the crowd, even if it is reinterpreted by different artists. The goal is to be flexible as the seas change. We can only exist with community input, and the brand reflects the ethos of working together.&#60;img width="1126" height="1171" width_o="1126" height_o="1171" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/e15408d438ec302797566b3c2f49049e2781a7f9f1fefb6398c922ee44bf7a8a/Untitled_Artwork-15.png" data-mid="242566944" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/e15408d438ec302797566b3c2f49049e2781a7f9f1fefb6398c922ee44bf7a8a/Untitled_Artwork-15.png" /&#62;

	In response to the ongoing struggles of people of color in the United States, Seattle Children’s Theatre, in partnership with Theatre for Young Audiences and several other children’s theatres, produced A Kids Play About Racism. Based on Jelani Memory’s book A Kids Book About Racism, this virtual play helps explain the concept of racism to children through the eyes of Jelani as a boy. The accompanying guide was written by members of the education team at SCT, and designed by me.
The play guide follows the original book’s design elements of bold color and use of typography while supplimenting the text with custom icons and illustrations. Due to the financial and interpersonal limitations of the Covid-19 pandemic, the guide was designed to be fully digital. It was made interactive through HTML5 while still emulating the experience of reading a magazine. A PDF version was also created to allow families to print out the supplemental activity pages for their children. This guide has been used by thousands of families in the United States to fully immerse them in the theatrical experience.&#38;nbsp;

	Starting in the summer of 2018, I worked as the lead graphic designer at Seattle Children’s Theatre. I worked on a variety of projects from solidifying a rebrand to summer camp class catalogs. I reported directly to the Director of Marketing, allowing me to have a say in the visual direction of any communication materials at the theatre. Through this position, I have developed a solid working relationship with multiple printers and suppliers for distrubting work. I have also fostered skills in working with those outside of the design field from educators to fundraisers. Many pieces I created for SCT were print pieces, though I also worked on digital and social media adviertisements, interactive catalogs, and consulted on redesigning the theatre’s website.
I worked in a period of brand transition. Having commissioned a brand redesign before I was hired, I was tasked with implementing the brand into all out materials and slightly altering or adding to it so it could be used seamlessly. I created micro-brands for fundraising events and season identities as well.&#38;nbsp;

	In an effort to spearhead understanding and equity for oppressed people in the United States, Theatre for Young Audiences researched and wrote Anti-Racist &#38;amp; Anti-Oppressive Futures for Theatre for Young Audiences. This guide was created by the BIPOC group within TYA for all young audience theatre staff throught the United States to serve as a jumping-off point for more in-depth conversations about oppression in the arts and in this country.&#38;nbsp;
I was contacted to create this guide due to my work creating a digital guide for A Kid’s Play About Racism. This guide would also be full digital and interactive so it could have a larger reach in the United States, and work within budgetary constraints. I approached this project by first doing visual research to pinpoint the style that spoke best to the heavy content. I did not want this to feel like a text book, but I also wished to avoid having the visuals overwhelm or conflict with the material. I landed on using rich jewel tones with a subdued font and organic shapes to help the content feel inviting, but still professional.&#38;nbsp;
I worked hand-in hand with the writer of the guide’s content to truly understand the vision of what they were working to achieve. We worked to create custom infographics within the piece so that information could be easier to digest all while staying within the restraints of the design.
The final design was converted to HTML5 and embedded onto TYA’s website along with a secondary version created to inhance visual contrast for accessibility. While there is still debate within the typographic community as to the efficacy of it, I used a dyslexic font for the latter design.&#38;nbsp;

Above: Full cover and spine of&#38;nbsp; the journal, ft. photography by C. Davida Ingram.Monday is an art journal run by the Jacob Lawrence Gallery in Seattle. The second volume centered around black femininity in the arts and in life. I had the privilege of being the guest designer for this volume and worked closely with Gallery manager Emily Zimmerman and guest editor/artist C. Davida Ingram. The journal feature writing, visual art, and poetry from artists and students at the University of Washington.
While taking some inspiration from the first volume of the journal as well as minimal Dutch-style design, I wanted to also show a subtle femininity in the journal that reflected its topic. I used a motif of flowers over a black background to separate sections, making sure it was subtle enough not to overwhelm the accompanying typography. The wide magins surrounding the text add a layer of intimacy to the journal, offsetting the stark black and white designs and photos.
Below: Interior examples of the journal.

		<description>STUDENT’S GUIDE TO SOCIALIST DESIGN
for a thesis project at The University of Washington
May, 2018

	Exhausted by the political climate in 2018 (and now, for that matter), and exhilerated by my studies into philosophy, my senior thesis project for my Visual Communications degree ended up being a short manifesto of my grievances. I wanted to combine my design, writing, political, and philosophical knowledge that I developed in university into a concise snapshot of my belief system and my dreams of a co-op structure design firm. The book is split into three sections: the introduction and reason for my dissatisfaction with society, the theoretical basis for my thoughts, and an outline of an ethical design co-op that follows the ethical structure I’ve laid out.To truly exemplify my design expertise, I created a dual-sided dust jacket that became a poster when unfolded. The interior of the book follows the same design cues as the poster via typography and image treatment. Below: Poster/dust cover design, followed by interior book shots.
